Rituals

“Rituals are often the things we return to when life feels uncertain, disconnected, or chaotic.”

Family Ritual:

It was Thanksgiving sometime during our RV travels when we decided to go to Seattle to spend the day with friends.

It was the day before and we realized a very important thing was missing... the Thanksgiving book that we read every year since I could remember.

It took a few days, some clever sleuthing, and we had printed pages that the kids bound and decorated so that Thur. night when my mom and my sister called, we would all be able to read a page as we passed it around the table. "Giving Thanks, A Native American Story,” linked the family - even when thousands of miles apart, resurrected memories of my late father in his wisdom, strength, and passion for family - it gave us great comfort knowing it was one constant we could always count on.

The now many copies of that book have traveled w/us, and others, all over the country, even world, and has made its way into extended family & friends' homes - now part of their

Family traditions.

Personal Ritual:

Most of us have or will experience a kind of trauma or hardship...where it feels like the earth was ripped out from underneath us, food is revolting, and even showering and breathing is a chore.

There was a time in my life that my world felt upside down. For me...I realized healing wasn’t going to happen accidentally - I needed something that could hold me when I couldn’t hold myself.

I began working with a meditation/spiritual mentor whose methods required digging deep and exercising discipline.

It included meditation, mindful breathing, yoga , chanting, playing my musical instruments, making art, etc..

But beyond the practices themselves, there was structure - daily rhythms, weekly routines, intentional repetition.

That was years ago and my practice has evolved…

and it will ebb and flow but that ritual stayed constant....and it changed me - changes me.

It connects me to myself, grounds me, gives me solace, and helps me tap into moments of bliss and clarity. It’s one of the few spaces where I can be fully, unapologetically me.

Professional Ritual:

Have you ever howled at the moon?

Like many companies, we have annual meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and celebrations.

But one of the most meaningful rituals we’ve practiced for almost ten years is gathering every two weeks around the new and full moon.

And yes, for us - that means howling too.😉

Not because we think the moon magically fixes our business...

But because the ritual itself creates intention, reflection, release, and reconnection.

It gives us a dedicated space to pause and ask:

What’s working? What’s not? What are we carrying that no longer belongs here? What do we want to intentionally create moving forward?

The consistency and the sacredness of the ritual is what matters most.

Over time, it became more than a meeting.

It's a sacred time we come together in sisterhood, an unspoken pledge to each other, to create the future and the dream.

It's a time we put our differences or distractions aside to unify and manifest exactly what it is we need and want for the Company.

Rituals do something structure alone cannot...they create meaning.

And meaning is often what keeps people connected - to themselves, to each other, and to the work they’re building together.

This one ritual is the backbone and one constant that we can count on.
